Legrand/Wiremold announced that it has completed a program to integrate audio/video (A/V) connectivity directly into its major wire and cable pathway products, including perimeter raceways, floor boxes, poke-thru devices, architectural columns, infloor ducts, worksurface modules, and in-wall products. With the integration, these commercial A/V products now provide integrators with the space, capacity, and bend radius needed to install A/V devices without modifying the cabling pathway or installing a separate pathway.
"Until recently, little thought was given to providing space for A/V components within wire and cable management pathways," claims Lori Kelly, product marketing manager at Legrand/Wiremold. "As a result, A/V systems were typically not integrated with cabling infrastructure and were instead installed separately – a process that was ineffective, unattractive, and potentially in violation of slab fire-rating codes."
Select Wiremold perimeter raceway systems, floor boxes, and poke-thru devices, as well as the company's Vista architectural columns, deQuorum worksurface portals, and in-wall products now offer the ability to integrate A/V connectivity. These open architecture systems accept devices from Legrand/Ortronics, Extron Electronics, Crestron, and many other manufacturers. In addition to accommodating passive A/V modules, the Vista architectural column now also provides space to install audio/video control units.
