Snell to Resume Presidency
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada David L. Snell, cofounder, Vice Chairman and CEO of Electronics Manufacturing Group Inc. (EMG) announced the departure of David King, President. Snell will resume the role of President to become Vice Chairman, President and CEO of EMG, effective immediately. Flextronics Expands Photonics Business Unit
SINGAPORE Flextronics has acquired Wave Optics Inc. (Mountain View, Calif.) and Fico Fiber Optics Inc. (Westford, Mass.). Wave Optics is an independent design and manufacturing service provider servicing the optical component industry. It focuses on the design, manufacturing and packaging of optical subcomponents and components. Fico Fiber Optics focuses on manufacturing advanced optical modules, electro-optical modules and passive optical components for telecommunications and data communications product companies.
SpinCircuit Acquires eBizAutomation
SAN JOSE, Calif. SpinCircuit Inc., a provider of collaborative product commerce services to the electronics supply chain, has acquired eBizAutomation Inc. (New Jersey), a developer of business-to-business infrastructure technologies. Approximately 15 employees of eBizAutomation will join SpinCircuit as a result of the acquisition, including Rajendra Nath Datta, former CEO, now Vice President of Product Marketing, and Hardeep Singh Gulati, former President and CTO, now Vice President of Engineering.

Avnet Opens Facility in Mexico
Phoenix Avnet Electronics Marketing (EM) has opened a new 35,000 sq ft sales, logistics/materials management and warehouse facility in Guadalajara, Mexico. "Guadalajara is sometimes referred to as the Silicon Valley of Mexico and is clearly a hub for the electronics industry, with 50-plus OEMs located here," said Beth Ely, Vice President/Director, Sales, Latin America for Avnet EM. "Customers are demanding high-quality, low-cost manufacturing close to their end markets, which has driven the growth of the electronics sector in Mexico."
Reptron Makes Announcements
TAMPA, Fla. Reptron Electronics Inc. announced that Steven M. Clear has been appointed CIO, a new senior management position. Clear is responsible for managing Reptron's information systems. Also, Reptron has opened six new branch offices located in Guadalajara, Mexico; Phoenix; Dayton, Ohio; Sacramento, Calif.; Austin, Texas; and Toronto. In conjunction with the openings, the company has appointed six new executives to manage the growth in each region.
