Flexcon Test Connectors offer a way to patch, probe or connect into miniature and subminiature connectors, as well as commercial "D" type and circular connectors. Used for continuity, signal and voltage testing, applications include electronic, electrical and communications systems; computers; and military. Pins and socket sizes 22, 20, 16, 12 and eight conform to MIL-Spec dimensions. Hookup is said to be interchangeable by insertion of a banana plug into the barrel or permanent by capturing a wire with a set screw in the barrel. Airotronics, Cazenovia, N.Y.

Crimp-height Caliper

This Digital Crimp-height Sliding Caliper is said to have a custom ground blade that allows exact measurement of the heart height of a crimp connection by providing space for the blades to clear the side wall of the crimp contact. Typically, the measure of quality for a crimp connection has been a tradeoff between electrical conductivity and the connection withdrawal force. Multiplexer Module

The Model 7708 40-channel Differential Multiplexer Module is a flexible measurement/control solution. It plugs into the company's Model 2700 mulimeter/data acquisition system, providing 40 channels of differential multiplexing with automatic CJC for temperature measurements with J, K, N, T, E, R, S and B thermocouples. Test System

The Model 933A Life-cycle Test System reportedly counts over four billion successful/failure strokes and measures contact bounce time and closure resistance of connectors, switches, keyboards, keypads and other products requiring fatigue testing. It is said to allow the user to adjust the force and impact speed. A Windows interface offers options for operating and analyzing the product. The system may be used in standalone mode, or it can be operated via the software. Measurements may be saved to a PC, then transferred to a database. Tricor Systems Inc., Elgin, Ill.

Cable and Harness Tester

The Signature Touch 1 Cable and Harness Tester is available with a 1,500 VDC to 1,000 VAC option. It features an integrated Pentium-class PC with floppy and hard disk drives, keyboard, monitor, serial and parallel ports, and optional Ethernet port. A graphical touch-screen display provides an operator interface with menu prompts. The product tests for opens, shorts, miswires, high-resistance connections and insulation problems. Pin-depth Gauge

This Part No. 010-0158 BNC Center Pin-depth Gauge is a precision dial gauge that is said to meet the requirements set forth by the telecommunications industry for the proper installations of BNC connectors. It measures the pin depth of a BNC plug center pin in relation to the BNC's reference plane as per MIL-C-39012. Patch Cord

The Model 6283-C Patch Cord is designed for use as a patch cord or as a jumper between test panels, digital multimeters or other test lab instruments. It is said to allow the user to easily connect double banana plugs to safety-rated banana jacks while improving connection accuracy and speed. With a color-coded offset ground lead identifying the hot side as red and the shielded side as black, the cord provides immediate distinction between ground and hot leads. Once the connection is made, the user can reportedly verify the connection without unplugging the cable. The product also eliminates the need for using two individual cords. The CableEye Model M3 is a PC-based cable and wiring harness tester that measures resistance over a range of 0.5 Ω to 10.0 MΩ. The tester can reportedly display a wiring diagram with the notes and data necessary to conform to ISO 9000 requirements. Supplied with Windows software, the tester comes with 152 test points, is expandable to more than 1,000 test points, and includes software and technical support. CAMI Research Inc., Lexington, Mass.

Charge Analyzer

The Model 711 Charge Analyzer features 6 X 6 X 6" housing dimensions, meets the requirements of ESD Standard 3.1 and IEC Technical Report 613450-5-1, and has a static decay time measurement of 0.1 to 99.9 seconds. Two 11-digit LED bars that display separate positive and negative charge readings, as well as three spacers that support the unit during horizontal airflow measurements for air ionizer performance tests are included. Automated Cable Tester

The ACT2 Tester offers automated testing of two fiber links, data storage for certification and customer reports, and has a built-in fiber optic talkset. The tester is included in a fiber optic "toolbox" installation kit that also includes the tools needed for fiber optic premises cabling installation. Compliance Tester

The Model 565 Hi-Pot/Continuity Tester is said to be suitable for all common compliance testing as specified under "Tests by Manufacture" by the UL and CSA. Designed in accordance with the UL 120K sensitivity specification, the tester is used for final assembly test applications. The test receptacle allows the product to be plugged in one time, checking for ground wire continuity as well as dielectric strength. Test voltages from 0 to 2,500 VAC are provided. AC Clamp Meter

This Analog AC Clamp Meter is said to measure AC current to 600 A, AC voltage to 600 V, DC voltage to 60 V and resistance to 1 KΩ . The Lock-Jaw clamp design accommodates clamping around one 750 MCM or two 350 MCM cables, and reportedly allows the meter to open only when it is set to measure current and remains shut when the control dial is set to voltage or resistance. The meter features an analog display, a data hold and a 0 Ω adjustment dial. A separate battery/fuse compartment with a spare fuse is standard. Gardner Bender, Milwaukee, Wis.

DC Source Testers

The FEL Series Programmable DC Electronic Loads can provide operation down to 0.2 V, reportedly without derating the current or requiring a booster power supply. The products are equipped with standard GPIB and RS232 interfaces, and allow the user to control the instrument through a PC. Four main operating modes, 99-point programming for dynamic load profiling, 256 points of recording and printing capability, four transient testing modes and external analog control are featured. LAN Cable Tester

The Model 40145 LAN Cable Tester is designed to meet Ethernet and Token Ring LAN standards. It can reportedly accept a variety of BNC and RJ-45 terminated cables, and checks for opens, shorts, reversals, crosses, split pairs and faults. The fault type is displayed on a two-digit, 14-segment LED. Red/green LEDs indicate the pairs and pass/fail status. Modem Line Tester

The MLT650 Modem Line Tester allows network installers to qualify POTS lines for modem use. By dialing any dial-up modem on the handheld, portable tester, it is said to negotiate the fastest rate up to 56 Kbps V.90 standard. Bandwidth problems on the talk path are reportedly quickly identified. The tester operates on rechargeable internal batteries with 3 hour operation time. Audio Analyzer

The Minilyzer ML1 is a palm-sized analyzer for audio analysis. The analyzer has a microphone input for polarity tests and a headphone jack that allows monitoring of the input signal at a normalized level for aural diagnostics. The unit continuously measures audio levels as RMS or peak levels, absolute or relative, to a definable reference with selectable units. The accurate frequency measurement, with high resolution of 100 ppm, gives additional functions and acts as the base for distortion measurement.
