Leoni, a global supplier of wires, cables and wiring systems, reportedly generated record sales of some 2.96 billion EUR (previous year: 2.16 billion EUR) in fiscal 2010, according to preliminary estimates. Apart from a further increase in copper pricing, the company said the forecast figure of about 2.8 billion EUR was substantially exceeded thanks to a dynamic uptrend in demand from both the automotive industry and all other pertinent markets up to the end of the year. A very strong increase in sales of cable harnesses and wiring systems for vehicles in the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) as well as in the U.S., merited particular mention, noted the supplier.
