The rewireable connectors can be used to supply power to a range of electronic equipment. They use terminals that have collar lug overleaves that "lock up" as the contact tangs tighten down on the wires, which is said to virtually eliminate the need to retighten the terminals. Marinco Specialty Wiring Devices, Napa, Calif.

The connectors are said to be double-insulated with float-ing phosphor bronze contacts. The products are available in clear or color-matched overmolds. Feller U.S. Corp., Somerset, N.J.
Reflow Encapsulant
![]() |
Se-Cure 9120 Reflow Encapsulant is designed for use in attachment of flip chip/CSP devices to circuit card assemblies. The single-pass product is said to achieve reflow and encapsulation in a single SMT reflow step, without a further secondary cure operation needed to fully polymerize the material. The product reportedly eliminates process time associated with traditional underfill process methods and reduces the equipment required for assembly. Kester, Des Plaines, Ill.
Test System
Model 933A Life-cycle Test Station reportedly counts over 4 billion successful/failure strokes and measures contact bounce time and contact closure resistance of connectors, switches, keyboards and keypads. It can be used in standalone mode or can be set up, started and stopped via a PC using Windows. Electrical load is selectable, force and velocity are adjustable, and it is programmable under a range of conditions. Tricor Systems Inc., Elgin, Ill.
Cutting and Forming Machines
![]() |
Superform Series Machines are said to cut only or cut and put a lock-in on taped radial components such as capacitors, resistors and transistors. For taped axial components, a variety of forms are available for vertical, horizontal, surface-mount assembly, standoffs and lock-ins. The units are hand-operated with an optional motor, and can cut, trim and form taped and loose-piece radial components. A variety of standard and custom dies are available for forming different types of shapes, standoffs and lock-ins. Tomken Industries Inc., Norwalk, Conn.
Adhesive
![]() |
CornerBond 3515 is a single-component liquid epoxy adhesive that is designed to minimize the effect of induced stresses between the PCB and the array package. It can be applied using standard SMT dispense equipment and cured during the solder reflow cycle. It breaks down at temperatures exceeding the standard solder reflow temperature of 200°C, allowing for removal and replacement of surface-mounted components. Loctite Corp., Rocky Hill, Conn.
RJ-45 Connectors
![]() |
PulseJack RJ-45 Connector Modules with integrated magnetics for 10/100 Base-TX network interface cards utilize an interlock base construction that is said to minimize the stresses of human handling, resulting in uniform positioning of coils, leads and interconnecting wires. The tab-down, through-hole mounted, single-port jacks integrate the magnetics, resistor and capacitor termination circuits, LED indicators, and RJ-45 receptacle into one package. They are compliant with IEEE 802.3. Pulse, a Technitrol Co., San Diego, Calif.
Electronic Coating
Novec Electronic Coating EGC-1700 is a used as protective coating and surface modifier for PCBs and as an anticorrosion/antimigration coating for electronic components and equipment. Coatings are said to air dry in 15 to 20 seconds, and it is generally not necessary to mask off friction-fit connectors before coating with the product. Reportedly, the thinness allows components to be easily repaired or reworked, and the coating adds no mechanical cure stress on circuit components. 3M Performance Materials Div., St. Paul, Minn.
Measuring Tool
![]() |
The Fischerscope X-ray XDVM-W measures the coating thickness and alloy composition of metal-coating systems. It is said to be suitable for high-volume coating thickness measurements on screws, connector contacts, contact strips and PCBs. The system measures according to test method ASTM B568 or DIN 50987 and ISO 3497. Features include a solid sheet metal housing and access to the large, slotted measuring chamber. Fischer Technology Inc., Windsor, Conn.
Micro Sandblaster
![]() |
The Swam Blast Line of manual and automatic micro sandblasting systems is said to selectively and safely remove conformal coatings, solder mask and oxidation, component demarking, deflashing, PCB rework/repair, and surface texturing. Crystal Mark Inc., Glendale, Calif.
Interconnect
For this Interconnect Product, the conductive polymer consists of a fine-pitch matrix and gold-plated wires. The wires are embedded either straight or at a 63° angle in a soft insulating sheet of silicone rubber. SMT Headers
![]() |
Surface-mountable PCB Headers are said to improve solder joint strength in PCB applications through enhanced capillary action of reflowing solder. The capillary action of the solder paste during reflow draws the header down tightly to the PCB, creating a thinner, stronger solder joint. The design is also said to provide a way for solder gases to escape. The headers are available in a variety of pin lengths and sizes, and provide resistance to thermal shock and thermal cycling.
