Distributor charts impact of raw material prices on cost of electronics connectors

Feb 8, 2012

On its website, the electronics components distributor TTI recently published a list of tables charting the extent to which the prices of raw materials impact the cost of electronic components, including connectors. "Raw material prices have been on the rise and are impacting every company in the electronics supply chain," states the distributor. "We watch these trends at TTI because we know that they will find their way into the prices for the components we sell."

The charts as provided for electronics connectors follow cost trends through January 2012 for raw materials including base metals aluminum, copper, brass, zinc, nickel, tin, steel, lead; precious metals including gold, silver, platinum, palladium; as well as the cost of oil. Charted connector types include metal circular, plastic circular, RF, board-to-board, backplane, I/O, terminal blocks.

Clicking on the icon for a selected raw material produces the cost trend chart for the corresponding component types. Besides connectors, other components charted include capacitors, resistors, and inductors, ferrites, fuses, and varistors.
