EMI Gaskets

EMI Gaskets are designed to fit over IEEE 1394 right-angle, upright connectors. Made of beryllium copper, they are said to provide a low-impedance path from the connector shell to the faceplate. They are mounted over the connectors and soldered to the PCB, making contact with the connector shell and faceplate when the board is assembled into its housing. Ribbon Cable Cutter

The UC 3750 is a fully programmable cutting machine that processes wire, tubing, and round and flat ribbon cable. This benchtop unit handles wire up to 8 AWG, round material up to 0.375" OD and flat material up to 3.2" wide. Its computer technology reportedly allows users to change length and quantity settings at the touch of a button without tooling changeovers. The unit stores up to 99 programs in memory. Weld Head

The Model VTA 63 Low-inertia, Constant-force Weld Head is designed for low-force, high-precision applications. The head is said to provide absolute force control for parallel and series micro-welding applications. A constant-force air cylinder reportedly minimizes force variations during the head-actuation range. Applications include microwave subassembly; solar cell; gold, copper or Kovar on ceramic substrate; circuit card repair; and medical devices. Cap Housings

Flanged Cap Housings with twist lock for Universal Mate-N-Lok contacts are available for six, nine and 12 circuits. Primarily suited for household appliance applications, the flange permits the connector housing to be twisted 90° to complete installation within a panel cutout. The product design prevents insulation foam used inside the equipment from seeping through the panel cutout. Wire seals at the back of the housing offer similar protection for the connector contacts. Polyolefin Tubing

Daflex SH277 is 4:1 ratio, heat-shrinkable irradiated polyolefin tubing that reportedly recovers to 25 percent of its supplied size (when full recovery is permitted). The tubing is said to shrink with the application of 120°C (250°F), is rated for continuous operation from -55°C to 135°C and can withstand up to 300°C (572°F) for short durations. The product is flame-retardant and meets or exceeds the specified properties of MIL-I-23053/5 Class 1 and 3. Daburn Electronics & Cable Corp., Northvale, N.J.

Plastic Repair

Rawn America Plas-T-Pair is a permanent plastic repair that fixes broken electrical or electronic components and parts. For commercial and fiberglass repair and for benchtop and equipment maintenance, this product builds and repairs surfaces as well as patches holes that can be sanded and painted for a finished look. Fast-curing Adhesive

This Fast-curing Anaerobic Adhesive is for use with standard, low-cost fiber optic connectors. The one-part adhesive is said to be suitable for use with any ceramic ferrule connector. It cures in 3 to 5 minutes, reportedly without the "fiber lockup" that can occur. It requires a one-part adhesive and does not require primer. Thick-film Coating

Said to cure in seconds upon exposure to UV/visible light, 9-20558 Coating forms a transparent layer that is said to protect underlying circuitry and components from moisture, dust and other contaminants. The viscosity of the coating is formulated to dispense through precision dispensing systems. The flexible coating cures in 20 to 30 seconds. Controlled placement of the coating reportedly optimizes the process and minimizes resin consumption. The flow characteristics are designed to ensure quick coverage. Dymax Corp., Torrington, Conn.

The Fully Automatic, Benchtop 500-LN Robot allows for dispensing in any sequence of dots, circles, arcs and lines, whether dispensing epoxies, silicones, inks, solder pastes, adhesives, fluxes, greases, lubricants or potting compounds. Cable Management

Designed for use in cable management applications, the Flexible D-ring can be used for vertical applications and can be rotated a full 90° for open access and entry of large cable bundles. The wiring accessories are offered in two sizes: 6.08 and 12.17 sq. in. Both are made of polycarbonate and are designed with rounded corners to prevent chaffing of the cable insulation. Hybrid Gasket

The E/E (Environmental/EMI Shielding) Hybrid Gasket features a single-flange construction and uses nickel/copper cladding over EPDM rubber. The cladding guards against EMI protection and the rubber provides environmental protection. The gasket is designed to help protect equipment in the telecommunications and electronics industry, and is designed for a minimum 15-year field life. Tra-Bond F131 is a clear, low-viscosity material formulated for terminating all types of fiber optic connectors. This two-part material is said to be easy to mix and cures at room temperature; at 65°C, a cure time of 15 minutes reportedly can be achieved. It is a high-strength, nonpistoning material that exhibits a Tg of 95°C. This product is suitable for bonding optical lenses, mirrors and other components and it bonds to glass, plastics and metals. The Impact Punch Tool features a quick-release head, impact adjustment and blade storage. Available with specialty blades, including 66 or 110, the tool's other optional items include 630A modular jacks, 3M D system, GTE modular system, Krone, Bix, metal center punch, wood center punch and plastic carrying case that holds up to eight blades. This Hand-held Cartridge Dispenser is designed to simplify the mixing of two-part, curing optical gels. It is said to be suitable for prototyping and other small-quantity applications. The product is designed for high-clarity optical gels to ensure thorough mixing and to prevent air-bubble entrainment in manual, small-quantity applications. The reusable dispenser holds a 50 cc cartridge. When the cartridge is inserted into the dispenser, it depresses the plunger and mixes and applies the two components in proper ratio. Nondrip Epoxy Adhesive

EP30ND Polymer Adhesive is a two-component epoxy adhesive for high-performance bonding. It is formulated to cure at room temperature, or more rapidly at elevated temperatures, with a 4:1 mix ratio, weight or volume. It is said to develop a high-bonding strength of more than 2,000 psi at room temperature, with dimensional stability and low shrinkage upon cure. The product reportedly can be applied without sagging or dripping, even on vertical surfaces. It has an operating temperature range of -60 °to 250°F. Master Bond Inc., Hackensack, N.J.

UV-curable Sealants

PA-5800 and PA-7900 are UV-curable, polyurethane-based, soft elastomeric coatings designed to improve the sealing characteristics of fiber-based gaskets. These products are formulated for silk-screen application as thin "beads." Pour-in-place versions are also available for standalone sealing and bonding applications on a variety of substrates. Stock colors are red and unpigmented clear. UV cure is said to be instantaneous and composition is 100 percent reactive for low VOC. FSP Research Inc., Milford, Conn.

The Ultraindexer System is designed to automatically weld multiple connections or terminals to flexible flat cable as thin as 0.002", as well as other components. The system includes modular tooling, a universal welder and the ST 3000 II controller. It is said to support sequential operations to automate production and simplify set-up and operation. Built-in controls reportedly ensure the quality and integrity of each weld by maintaining strict parameters, and the controller communicates preventative maintenance information and troubleshoots any malfunction. Thermal Printer

The DMX-W-6208 is a high-performance, "wide-web" thermal printer. The unit features all-metal construction designed to withstand adverse work environments, reportedly making it suitable for heavy-duty applications. The printer is manufactured with a 32-bit, 90 MHz Motorola Coldfire processor and 16 MB of standard memory. It prints a 6.61"-wide image area at 8.0" per second on a maximum media width of 7.0". Stycast 906-1 Encapsulant is said to offer protection from temperature extremes found under the hood of an automobile in critical emissions-related sensors. This single-component material protects stress-sensitive electronics from harsh operating environments. The TF 350 is said to be a highly versatile, easy-to-use, convective SMT soldering/desoldering system that does not require nozzles. It is reportedly capable of removing any type of SMT component, including area array devices and surface-mount connectors up to 2" long. Full-Wave Spice is a technology for broadband communications and high-speed electronic product design. It reportedly enables users to design electronic and communication components while taking Gigahertz frequency effects into account. Gasket Material

This FIP Compound is reportedly a softer, lower durometer, form-in-place, conductive elastomer gasket material that requires lower closure forces. It can be used on small, snap-fit plastic enclosures such as cell phones and other portable, hand-held devices. It is an air-cure compound that has a curing time of 24 to 48 hours. SMART Dispensers are hand-held tools said to provide no-drip, no-fatigue assembly fluid application. They are reportedly suitable for assembly, rework, maintenance or other areas where user mobility and fluid control are important. Strapper's Aid is a device for cutting strapping tape to length. It cuts up to 20.0" per second and pulls from a standard reel. Data entry is made using a keyboard. Epoxy System

M5-82 is a linear epoxy system that reportedly remains flexible under temperature changes. It is said to be suitable for under-the-hood automotive applications and other environments where seal integrity is required in adverse temperature and weather conditions. When heated, it melts and cures, forming a consistent seal. It is available in a range of shapes, sizes and materials, and can be dispensed at rates of 200 to 600 ppm. Detangler

The D-Tangler 2000 Spring Detangler is designed to separate springs and wire forms that get tangled from settling caused by shipping and handling. It can reportedly process different sizes of springs and wire forms in the same unit. The unit is built in an electrical enclosure for operator safety and quiet operation. Label Management

LabelGenie is a turnkey label management system that is available in three configurations. The standalone version combines the management module and the production module into one package. Duralco 4538N Super Flexible Epoxy offers high peel strength and adheres to plastics, metals, ceramics, glass, Zytel, Victrex, polyphenylsufone, polycarbonates, phenolics, nylon and other difficult-to-bond surfaces. It reportedly includes no volatiles, no solvents, no outgassing, and no two- or three-stage curing cycles. It is also said to withstand repeated thermal cycling from -100 °to 300°F. Miniature Probe Sets are designed for making accurate surface-resistance measurements of areas as small as 0.32" (8.2 mm) in diameter. Fiber Optic Adhesive

AngströmBond AB9104 is a clear, low-viscosity adhesive that is said to cure at room temperature and produces very low shrinkage. It reportedly wicks to fill small bond gaps, and bonds to glass, ceramic, metals and most plastic substrates. The adhesive has low-outgassing characteristics and chemical and solvent resistance, and acts as an electrical insulator. The TT100 Tone Tracer has a slim, ergonomic design. When used in conjunction with any audio tone generator, it reportedly permits wire and cable identification without having to make direct metallic contact with the conductor. It can be used with a wearable headset or a standard cell phone set. The TG100 Tone Generator is said to allow for multiple tone capabilities and constant tone amplitude over the life of the battery. Taping Machine

The HS Hand-held Portable Spiral Taping Machine is used to spiral wrap adhesive or nonadhesive tapes onto wire harnesses, cables, convoluted tubing, bus bars, electrical leads and similar pieces; the pieces can be up to 2" in diameter. The machine features a rugged, lightweight taping head mounted on a right-angle drive unit. The angle between the taping head and drive unit can be adjusted. Wire Marker Printer

The E-Z-Coder Wire Marker Printer is a small, portable system for producing custom labels for wire, faceplates, outlets and electrical components. Weighing 1.6 lb, it reportedly features an easy-loading label system; wide, user-friendly keys; a large, easy-to-read LCD screen; and automatic label serialization. Users can print up to eight variable lines of text at two sizes, in bold or normal type. It is sold with a battery pack, UL-listed battery charger, ribbon and wrist cord. These Epoxy Adhesives are formulated to bond rigid, durable substrates such as metals, glass, ceramics, concrete and wood. 5-Minute Epoxy is a rapid-curing, medium-viscosity, general-purpose adhesive/encapsulant. 2-Ton Clear Coat is a high-clarity, nonshrink adhesive suitable for applications where a strong, clear, water-resistant bond is required. Epoxy Plus 25 is a rubber-toughened structural adhesive with reported superior peel, impact and fatigue resistance.
