The USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 Promoter Groups have announced the opening of the SuperSpeed USB Inter-Chip (SSIC) and USB Power Delivery specifications to an industry review and comment period.
SuperSpeed USB Inter-Chip Specification Review and Comment Period: The SuperSpeed USB Inter-Chip (SSIC) specification will define a chip-to-chip USB-based interconnect built upon combining SuperSpeed USB software and protocol layers with the MIPI Alliance M-PHY. The SSIC 30-day industry review and comment period starts October 12, 2011 and ends November 11, 2011.
In order to participate in the review of the draft SSIC specification, the USB 3.0 Contributors Agreement must be executed by an authorized representative of your company and on file with the USB 3.0 Promoter Group. Please contact admin@usb.org to confirm or request instructions for processing this agreement. To receive a copy of the 0.7 draft of the SSIC specification, along with a review instructions and comment form, please send a request titled "SSIC Spec Request" to ssic-request@usb.org.
USB Power Delivery Specification Review and Comment Period: The USB Power Delivery specification will define extending power delivery over USB VBUS, enabling higher power for running devices and charging batteries. This capability will work in conjunction with new backward-compatible electronically detectable USB cables to allow power delivery using higher voltages and currents up to 100W. The 45-day review and comment period for the Power Delivery specification starts October 25, 2011 and ends December 9, 2011.
To participate in the Power Delivery specification review and comment period, the following three agreements must be executed by an authorized representative of your company who is also on file with the USB Promoter Groups: (1) USB 2.0 Contributors Agreement, (2) Power Delivery Amendment to the USB 2.0 Contributors Agreement and (3) USB 3.0 Contributors Agreement. Please contact admin@usb.org to either confirm or request instructions for processing these agreements and reference your interest in participating in the USB Power Delivery industry review.
To receive a copy of the 0.7 draft of the USB Power Delivery specification, please send an email titled "USB Power Delivery Spec Request" to power-request@usb.org. Copies of the draft as well as review instructions and comment form will be directly emailed upon request to review participants whose company has executed the prerequisite Contributor Agreements.
