The next-generation Submarine Low Frequency/Very Low Frequency VMEbus Receiver (SLVR) chassis has been redesigned for the U.S. Navy. The SLVR design uses an open-system architecture based on VME and VXI COTS components, which are said to reduce both system development time and cost. It uses a "militarized" chassis design provided by the company for protection of internal COTS components. The system replaces four systems currently in use and will be installed on all classes of submarines, as well as associated tender and shore installations.
