The Small Form Factor (SFF) Socket for Optical Transceivers is said to have the same footprint as a standard 2 x 5 SFF transceiver, allowing communication equipment OEMs to stuff circuit boards with sockets only. Then, they can install any 2 x 5 SFF transceiver, from any manufacturer, that meets the current needs of their customers or their production environment. The socket features pressfit retaining clips to hold transceivers securely while providing additional EMI grounding.
