The 8-position, 8-contact (8P8C) RJ45 connector is ubiquitous in data networks worldwide. While global travelers may find themselves carrying multiple power adapters to ensure they can plug into a particular country's electrical grid, the RJ45 port on these travelers' laptop computers are universally accepted everywhere. Yet despite being a globally recognized and accepted interface, RJ45 jacks have two distinct wiring schemes when used in corporate data networks: T568A and T568B.
Recently the datacom-cabling distributor CableOrganizers posted an article on its website that explains the differences between the A and B wiring methods for RJ45 jacks. In additon to explaining and illustrating the differences between the wiring layouts, the article has advice for datacom installers who are considering which to use.
