C&M Corporation has put on its website a Coil Cord Calculator, which the company intends as a means of support for developers of coil-cord products. C&M explains that the calculator provides analysis of the effects of retracted length as well as of the coil's outside diameter on the cord's extended length. It also provides the ability to compare material choices, and learn about those choices' effects on cord performance. An image of the calculator page is shown at the bottom of this screen.
Marketing communications manager Mike Levesque explains the online calculator is meant to let designers evaluate initial concepts. He says many coil-cord designers have an idea of the performance they would like the cord to achieve during use, but have few tools to help them compare materials during the design phase.
