Filtered AC connector boasts flexible wire leads, PCB mounting for medical, industrial apps

Jul 12, 2010

New from Schurter, the Series 5120 filtered IEC inlet connector combines IEC C14 or C18 inlets with line filtering and offers variety of mounting options, including screw-on, rivet, or snap-in mounting.

Dimensioned as 1-stage filter for rated current up to 15 A, the parts' EMI filter yields leakage current of less than 0.5 mA standard, and less than 5 µA for the medical version of the connector. Positive electrical contact of the connector's broad metal flange to chassis ensures optimal filtering and shielding, notes the company.

The PCB mount version of the connector is available with optional snap feet to ensure fastening of the unit on a printed circuit board. Flexible wire leads provide pre-assembly for easy installation.

The 5120 is designed for use in IT, medical and industrial applications. The parts are ENEC and cURus approved and comply with IEC/EN standards for office and medical equipment (60950 and 60601-1 respectively).
