November 5, 2009 -- Suyin has expanded its family of Serial ATA (SATA) connectors to include its surface-mount mini-SATA host receptacle connector, as part of the company's 127508FB016SX00ZR model series.

The right-angle, 16-pin receptacles comply with the low-profile mSATA standard established by the Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO). The parts' primary use is for connections that enable high-speed data transfer at up to 1.5 or 3.0 Gbit/s between a processor and the corresponding memory medium in miniaturized mobile devices, such as netbooks and notebooks.

However, the connectors are also suited for use in very compact stationary systems for consumer electronics and industrial applications. The blind-mating, hot-plugging receptacles have two side guide posts that are able to handle greater misalignment tolerances during insertion and prevent faulty mounting. Two retention clips, which are also located on the sides, have M2 threading and enable sturdy screw mounting on the printed circuit board.

The 16 copper-alloy receptacle contacts have a 1.27-mm pitch and feature gold-over-nickel plating. They are configured for a max. load of 150 V DC / 1.5 A DC per pin and are specified for 300 mating cycles. The contact resistance is 30 milliohms (initial), the insulation resistance is 1000 megaohms (initial) and the maximum insertion force is 3.5 kg. The compact dimensions are 39.38 mm × 10.2 mm x 4.7 mm (L x W x H). The operating temperatures range is specified at -40 °C to +105 °C.
