USMC picks Xirrus for Wi-Fi

Feb 24, 2010

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- Xirrus announced that it, along with its partner Mission Critical Solutions (MCS), has been awarded a multi-million dollar Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract (IDIQ) to provide high performance Wi-Fi products and accessories to the United States Marine Corps' (USMC) Pacific bases.

Xirrus say its Wi-Fi Array products employ a self-contained architecture with an integrated controller that allows them to be easily deployed, operated, and maintained. The full product platform allows deployment of secure, high-capacity, wireless access without the need of pulling and certifying costly Protected Data System (PDS) conduit and cable, which is used by the Department of Defense for securing Ethernet.

"Xirrus, along with our partner MCS, is proud to be part of a solution that provides new wireless technology to the USMC," said Kurt Sauter, Executive Director of the Federal Business Team at Xirrus. "The ease of deployment, performance, security, and simplicity of our wireless products are an effective solution for anyone looking to extend an existing secure wired Ethernet infrastructure."

The scope of the USMC project is to cover 19 MARFORPAC (US Marine Forces Pacific) installations. The Xirrus products can be seen in detail at a series of Federal Seminars offered across the country at the following dates and locations:

  -- March 9th              Tyson's Corner, Virginia
  -- March 11th            Arlington, Virginia
  -- March 16th            Dulles, Virginia
  -- March 18th            Washington DC
  -- March 23rd            Lakewood, Colorado
  -- March 26th            Honolulu, Hawaii
