BTC adds waterproof connectors, magnetic RJ45 jacks from Edac

Sep 30, 2011

BTC Electronic Components (BTC) , a value-added stocking connector distributor headquartered in Wake Forest, NC, has announced a pair of additions to its connector products linecard. Edac, one of BTC’s 31 franchised/authorized lines, has expanded its line of waterproof connectors, and also introduced a new line of magnetic modular RJ45 jacks.

Edac's expanded line of IP67 waterproof connectors, available in both wire-to-wire and wire-to-board versions, is intended for use in both extreme moisture and submersion applications. Design features include a simple crimp and poke application, interface seals designed and tested to the IP67 rating, compatibility with UL 28-14 AWG cable and the availability of waterproof caps for the 565 and 566 series. The series also incorporates integral locking tabs, a keying system and visual confirmation for proper sealing.

More Waterproof Connectors Coverage

Also newly available, the Edac line of Magnetic Modular Jacks incorporates wire-wound magnetics in a RJ45 connector. Edac contends that magnetic jacks have recently seen increased popularity due to labor savings, as they only involve a single component to mount instead of two.  Additionally, as a result of only one component being mounted, a reduced footprint on the printed circuit board is realized.

Established in 1980, BTC is a manufacturer franchised/authorized interconnect supplier for the aerospace, military, and commercial industries. BTC is a small business, ITAR Registered and is AS9100 Rev C, ISO 9001:2008, ITAR, and MIL-STD-790 certified. The company ensures 100% traceability on all parts.

The Edac Group's businesses consist of EDAC, NorComp Communication Devices and MH Connectors.  Founded in 1965, EDAC is headquartered in Markham, Ontario, Canada and has operations in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
