December 2, 2009 -- Omnetics Connector Corp. has released a nano threaded metal shell circular connector for aerospace and defense connector applications such as handheld and body-worn electronics in rugged environments like military radios, headsets, and body-worn medical monitoring equipment.
This military-grade nano connector has a threaded metal shell for positive lock while compressing an O-ring to provide a waterproof interfacial seal, and withstand high shock and vibration.
Thr high density multi-position military connector is available in four shell sizes: 6, 11, 16 and 28 positions arranged on a .025-inch (.64-millimeter) pitch. The connector is capable of 1 amp per contact and can be configured with different levels of waterproof sealing up to IP68.
A variety of shell material and finishes are available including nickel plated brass and black oxide stainless steel. Using a military quality contact system, these connectors are intended for mission critical applications where size, weight and reliability are crucial.
