Materion appoints new VP

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Materion Corporation, formerly Brush Engineered Materials Inc., announced that Brent W. Van Scoik has joined the company as vice president, corporate procurement. Van Scoik is based at the company's Mayfield Heights corporate offices and reports to John D. Grampa, the company's senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer.

Van Scoik joined Materion from JLG Industries, Inc., with executive offices in Hagerstown, Maryland, where he most recently served as the Director of Asian Operations. Over his career with JLG Industries, he had been responsible for a variety of senior procurement and materials management roles, including site selection, construction, and facility start-up of the company's first manufacturing operation in Asia.

Prior to working for JLG Industries, Van Scoik held senior management procurement positions for O-Cedar Brands, Inc. and Dana Corporation.

In his newly created role at Materion, Van Scoik has responsibility for leading the company's corporate procurement function and a Procurement Council comprised of business unit procurement leaders. He will also work closely with the individual site and business unit managers across the company.

Van Scoik earned his bachelor's degree in business administration/accounting from West Virginia University.

Materion Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiaries, supplies highly engineered advanced enabling materials to global markets. Products include precious and non-precious specialty metals, inorganic chemicals and powders, specialty coatings, specialty engineered beryllium alloys, beryllium and beryllium composites, and engineered clad and plated metal systems.

On March 8, 2011, the company changed its name to Materion Corporation from Brush Engineered Materials Inc. and unified all of its businesses under the new name.
