Continued weak LED market demand likely in 2012 despite possible lighting applications growth, says packaging exec

As reported by the Taiwan-based electronics and technology manufacturing news site DigiTimes, low demand in the LED market will likely continue through the first fiscal quarter of 2012, as predicted by Robert Yeh, chairman of LED packaging specialist Everlight.

Nonetheless, Yeh added that, compared with LED TV backlights, the LED lighting market will have a better chance to experience growth. Pricing of LED lighting products continues to be the key for commercialization, Yeh added.
