Blue Bird Corporation announced a recall campaign to avoid the potential loss of headlight low beams in model year 2010 All American school buses manufactured between May 13, 2009 and February 26 of this year.
The manufacturer notified NHTSA this week that the wiring harness for the vehicle's rear tag light may be of insufficient length, which could lead to the harness being improperly routed and the connector being exposed to outside elements.
As a result, the company says that a short could occur in the tag light circuit, which could lead to a sudden loss of the headlight low beams, the impairment of the driver's vision and, ultimately, a crash.
Blue Bird said 421 All American units are potentially affected by the recall. Owners were expected to be notified by mid-April, so that harnesses of the correct length can be installed.
