CommScope to present on 40/100G Ethernet in the data center

Feb 11, 2011

RICHARDSON, Texas -- CommScope will have two of its experts speak about 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) communications infrastructure during this month’s Ethernet Technology Summit in Santa Clara, CA.

Yinglin (Frank) Yang and David Hall will sit on separate panels on Wednesday, February 23. Both work for CommScope’s Enterprise Data Center business unit in Richardson, Texas. Yang is a technical marketing manager and Hall is an applications manager.

Yang will be part of a tutorial entitled, “Ethernet in Data Center.” His topic, “Converged 40/100GbE Data Center Fabric,” introduces the market drivers and market potential for 40/100GbE. He will discuss the characteristics of 40/100GbE in design and implementation in the data center environment. He also will explain non-blocking data center fabric architecture and further illustrate how to apply 40/100GbE to design a converged data center fabric for virtualization and private cloud. The tutorial will begin at 8:30 am CST.

Hall will be part of a tutorial entitled, “40/100 GbE: What’s Happening? Part 2—Emerging Technology Track.” His topic, “Preparing Your Cabling Infrastructure Now for 40/100GbE,” explains how companies are deploying more 10GbE channels in their data centers. He discusses the action that should be taken in current cabling instruction, allowing for a seamless upgrade to 40/100GbE when necessary. The tutorial will begin at 2 pm.

“Ethernet is moving rapidly toward higher speeds with 10GbE coming into common use and 40/100GbE starting to appear,” said Dr. Lance A. Leventhal, program chairperson, Ethernet Technology Summit. “CommScope is taking the lead in explaining how data centers should design their cabling infrastructure to handle these new technologies.”
