October 19, 2009 -- Billed as a highly reliable and safe connection, German manufacturer ODU has developed its SPC-Single POWER Connector product series, designed for renewable energy sources, industrial systems, switching stations, and emergency power supplies that require the transmission of very high currents or high voltages.
The SPC series is a combination of the ODU Lamella contacts and a rugged housing with a push-pull locking mechanism.
Other features of the connector include: nominal current up to 75 amps; nominal voltage up to 1,000 volts; no unintentional unlocking due to the secure push-pull locking principle; high-current contact with IP2X protection against accidental contact when not inserted; economical combination solution (single contacts + housing); mating cycles greater than 5,000; economical fabrication with crimp connection; receptacle with screw termination; contact diameters from 3-5 mm; IP50 or IP67 conformancy when inserted
Additional versions of the connector will soon be available for higher current and voltages, with secure bayonet-locking.
