October 9, 2009 -- The tool-less QM interconnect solution for commercial-aircraft wiring systems is the latest offering from Radiall USA Inc.
According to Radiall, QM connectors offer outstanding electrical performance over legacy disconnect connectors due to their quick-lock technology. This design provides long-lasting, mechanical durability needed for harsh environments and duress found in aerospace applications. Track-and-mate is easily performed through the connector's rail-mount installation, without tools, to easily slide and lock into place, the manufacturer says. This connector uses Radiall's shell polarization positions and patented EPXB standard inserts.
Originally developed to support Boeing's 787 wire integration requirements for final assembly, the QM connector is an enabling technology, Radiall says, and has expanded its footprint into other aircraft and applications.
The connector's rails are manufactured with high-conductive metal plating on composite shells. Multiple standard lengths are available as well as optional standard ground blocks for shield terminations. Additionally, integral strain relief with optional EMI backshell is offered.
