August 12, 2009 -- Cambridge Connectors has introduced a 75 ohm BNC connector specifically designed to operate in PCI Express 3GHz HD serial video applications.
PCI Express provides PCs with high bandwidth peripheral bus functionality. With a reflection factor (VSWR) of 1.10 (Max) from DC to 1.5GHz and 1.15 (Max) from 1.5GHz to 3.0 GHz, Cambridge Connectors says it has designed the new BNC connector to meet the requirements of SMPTE 424M ? 3G ? SDI over single link coax.
Customized dimensionally to fit onto a standard PCI Express card the connector also incorporates the company's proprietary Pathfinder light pipe feature; this enables conditions such as "on/off" or port status to be displayed by the connector. A low profile bulkhead flange provides enhanced EMI shielding; a threaded bulkhead mounting facility allows it to be used in non PCI Express applications.
As well as serial video and imaging equipment, typical applications for the new connector include high speed communication systems, test and measurement products, data acquisition, and high speed networks.
