TE Connectivity appoints India operations chief

TE Connectivity Ltd. (NYSE: TEL) recently announced the appointment of V Raja as President of TE Connectivity, India, effective October 7, 2011. According to a press release, in his new role, Raja will continue to build the company's team and operations in India, and serve as TE's executive leader with government officials and customers in India. Raja will report to Joe Donahue, TE's Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.

"We are pleased to have someone with Raja's experience and capabilities joining TE," commented Donahue. "He is an accomplished executive, and has a proven record of achieving market growth in India and in the region. His ability to build cohesive teams working across regions and business units is an important element as we expand our energy, automotive and network infrastructure businesses in India."

Prior to joining TE, Raja was President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Healthcare, India. Raja joined GE in 1997 and held a number of positions across GE India. He became President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Healthcare, India in 2004. He has over thirty-one years of work experience in multinational organizations. Raja was born in the city of Kolkata, formerly known as Calcutta, is an alumnus of St. Xavier's College in Kolkata, and is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary.

With approximately $200 million in annual sales, over ten locations, and close to 5,000 employees, TE states that its business in India is a key contributor to the company's overall growth in emerging markets. Emerging markets account for nearly a quarter of its revenues, adds the company.
