As reported at Powersports Business, Yamaha has recalled about 10,000 motorcycles due to a defective wire harness connector. According to the report, in certain model years of the company's 2006-09 FJR 1300 motorcycles, "the ground joint connector of the wire harness could overheat and become deformed, possibly causing an intermittent ground wire connection. If the electrical system is not properly grounded, the ignition system and/or other electrical components could malfunction, which could case the engine to stall." The potential number of motorcycles affected is 9,850, said Yamaha. To fix, authorized dealers will reportedly install an additional sub-lead, or if the ground joint connector has already been damaged from overheating, dealers will install a new main wire harness. The service will be performed free of charge.
