SOCKET FOR TEST, BURN-IN–The CSP/BallNest hybrid socket is suitable for prototyping, test, or burn-in of CSP (chip scale package), BGA (ball grid array), microBGA and LGA (land grid array) devices. The socket, which features a lid that nests each ball termination into the socket for a reliable connection, can be used on any device with a 0.30-mm pitch or larger. The ZIF-style (zero insertion force) socket uses the company’s solderless, gold-plated pressure-mount spring probes, allowing for simplified mounting and removal from the PCB. The design maintains constant force throughout the entire test and burn-in cycle, as well as on the surface-mount PCB when no chip is engaged. With a signal path of 0.077 inches (1.96 mm), this socket is designed to provide minimal signal loss for higher bandwidth capability. Special lid designs and materials are available upon request.

CORROSION-RESISTANT BLOCK–ASIST5 is a single-level feed-through terminal block, designed to accept a crimped ring tongue terminal and eliminate concerns of wire connection security. Housing material is UL94V0-rated, while nickel-plated screws and washers help ensure reliability in all environments. The ASIST provides a flat washer for more surface connection between the crimp terminal and wire. (The washer is also used for securing and locking the screw.) A continuous groove from front to back of the terminal block is designed to increase creepage distances, eliminating problems from dust and other contaminant buildup. The ASIST5 is 9.2 mm in width and has a wire range of 20 to 10 AWG. Current rating is 35 amps at 600 volts.

SCREW-, SPRING-CLAMP TERMINATION–DIN rail-mounted EZ Jump terminal blocks are now available in screw clamp and spring clamp wire terminations. These IEC terminal blocks have been designed around the PTC jumper system–a comb of plug-in jumpers that can be cut to any number of circuits and can be modified to allow for alternate circuit jumpers. Each of the terminal blocks feature two locations for the PTC jumpers. In addition, once the jumper is installed, it is insulated and touch-proof by being fully seated into the EZ Jump terminal block housing. The jumpers can then be removed with a screwdriver, and an insulator strip can be added over the jumper to provide visual identification of circuits. The EZ Jump family of terminal blocks includes single-level, multiple-level, functional, fuse and other styles. Housings are molded of a UL94V0 polyamide, and all materials are RoHS-compliant.

SFP+ COPPER ASSEMBLY–This very low-profile SFP+ direct attach copper cable assembly is designed to be “fiber-like” in size and more flexible than optical fiber. GORE Low-Profile Copper Cable is designed for dense, higher-port-count switch installations while providing a more reliable interconnect for high-performance computing (HPC) and networking environments using10 GbE (10 Gigabit Ethernet), FCoE, or 8 Gigabit Fiber Channel. The cable is built for 0.5 to 3-meter assemblies, while using a 2.10-mm round profile cable up to 2 meters, and a 2.80-mm round profile cable for 3 meters. This low-profile cable is targeted at data center applications, where a large percentage of high-density port-count interconnects are 3 meters or less. This low-profile cable is half the cross-sectional area of OM3 fiber optic cable and one-third the size of 62.5/125-µm optical cable, with a significantly reduced bend radius.

CONTACT INSERTS FOR REDUCED KEYING–Push-in contact inserts for the company’s Heavycon Series plug connectors are designed to reduce the time required for connecting wires and keying. Flexible wires with ferrules or rigid wires can be connected directly to the push-in contact inserts without tools. To key the contact, the user inserts plastic pins into the contact coding slot. Using the standard method, the contact inserts’ four fastening screws need to be removed first before the coding pins can be inserted–a process that can take several minutes. All fastening and connection screws are made of non-corrosive stainless steel. These Series B contact inserts are available in 6, 10,16 and 24 positions for 500 V/16 A with a wire size of AWG 20-14 for screw connection and AWG 20-12 for crimpconnection.

INDUSTRIAL MOTION ASSEMBLIES–Camera Link cable assemblies are designed for industrial motion video and frame grabber applications. The Camera Link Standard is a set of electrical requirements that cables must meet to be used in a Camera Link system, and these high-flex flat cable assemblies meet or exceed each of the specifications of the standard. Additionally, Camera Link flat cable assemblies are designed for at least 10 million flex cycles, and features 50-mm bend radius flexibility for moving video applications. Cable assemblies can be manufactured to any length for custom fitting. The cable is made with the company’s proprietary extrusion process that encapsulates 11 parallel twinax conductors in crystal-clear silicone, forming a flat cable less than 3/16-inch thick. Each twinax conductor features ultraflex, finely stranded wires, with dual shielding. The cable measures 1.5 inches wide x 0.164-inch thick (length specified by customer). Standard assemblies are finished with metal EMI/ESD protective connectors with quick-release latches. Plastic shells are also available.
