Newark adds TechCast training
Multi-channel electronics distributor Newark (www.newark.com), part of global Premier Farnell, has launched a library of TechCast trainings to help designers get up to speed on newer and more complex solutions from top manufacturers--including Analog Devices, Cypress, Freescale, Linear Technology, National Semiconductor, Texas Instruments and Tyco Electronics. TechCast trainings are located on Newark’s homepage under “Useful Tools.” Newark selects which key solutions to include, and then either collaborates with its suppliers to develop the content or produces original material itself, based on application notes and datasheets. Following best practices, each module is presented in a uniform power point format, with or without audio, and typically takes 10 to 20 minutes depending on the complexity of the solution. New modules are added weekly. A link listing all products discussed is also available within each training module. A dynamic link for each part takes the user directly to a Newark product detail page. “As electronic components are getting more

TTI unveils online purchase tool
TTI (www.ttiinc.com) has introduced its Project List, an online tool designed to enhance the way customers purchase and quote online, building upon the functionality of the distributor’s existing Saved List tool. With the Project List tool, customers create projects and add parts to them through features that include “search results,” “part comparison,” or “multi-part upload.” Customers may then add individual parts or entire projects to their shopping cart or quote request, completing the transaction within two to three clicks. Susan McCreary, a TTI software developer, says, “Project List is a great time-saver because it allows customers to add multiple parts to their shopping cart or quote request. Plus, it offers the convenience of keeping multiple sets of past requirements together and organized.”
