Custom Interconnects LLC (www.custominterconnects.com) has relocated its headquarters within Denver to a larger state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. “The move of our factory offers us the opportunity to expand our Fuzz Button product offerings while ensuring increased business efficiency levels,” explains general manager Edward Petsuch. The company manufactures board-to-board interposer, test socket, and interconnect solutions.

Endicott Interconnect Technologies, Inc. (EI; www.endicottinterconnect.com) has created EI Technologies UK Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of EI and located in Chelmsford, UK. Steve Payne has been named director of European sales. Payne will assume the role of managing the newly formed UK office, with EI’s European manufacturing representatives reporting to him. He is also tasked with accounts targeted for future growth in the European marketplace. With more than 30 years experience in the global electronic packaging industry, Payne has served as divisional manager at GEC Marconi Research and managing director of Cirflex Technology, Ltd.

John McCormick has been promoted to chief information officer at Ellsworth Corp. (www.ellsworth.com), parent company of electronics adhesive manufacturer Ellsworth Adhesives. He has been a member of the corporate operating committee for the past four years, and has been instrumental in creating the overall system, network, and structure used by the corporation to connect its expanding global organization. McCormick joined Ellsworth Adhesives in 1997 as MIS manager, and was promoted to corporate IS manager in 2001 and corporate IT director in 2003.

Connector manufacturer Positronic Industries (www.positronic.com) has been named 2008 Manufacturer of the Year by the Springfield (MO) Area Chamber of Commerce. Three finalists are evaluated on factors that include business stability and growth, employee development, product development and sustainability, environmental performance, health and safety performance, and community involvement. The company also recently achieved AS9100 certification for its North American operations. Suppliers who are AS9100-certified meet the high reliability requirements of the aerospace industry.

Robert M. Sturgill has been named vice president of sales and marketing at connectivity solution provider Meritec (www.meritec.com). His initial focus will include expanding the company’s business, strategic product development in cooperation with Meritec’s partners, and organizational development with customer service. Sturgill’s 24-year career includes serving as chairman, CEO, and president of Enigma Semiconductor, and various executive sales, marketing, and engineering posts at Vitesse Semiconductor, Cadence Design Systems, NEC Electronics, Motorola, and Intel.

Newark, a multi-channel electronics distributor in the Americas and part of the global Premier Farnell Group, and distributor TTI Inc. (www.ttiinc.com) have–for the second consecutive year–received a 2008 Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance. Newark and TTI maintained a Silver performance composite performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period, from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2008. This year, 411 suppliers achieved either a Gold or Silver level Boeing Performance Excellence Award.

Gary Sutcliffe has been promoted to manager of corporate technical services at Enthone Americas, by Enthone Inc., a business of Cookson Electronics (www.cooksonelectronics.com). He will have overall responsibility for the company’s Corporate Technical Services Group and the Enthone Americas Plating Academy, both based in West Haven, CT. He will also be responsible for the Enthone West Haven Quality Control function. During Sutcliffe’s 30-year career with Enthone, he has held several key management positions in technical service, research and development, and sales. Prior to his appointment, he was the Six Sigma Master Black Belt for Enthone Americas.

Molex’s (www.molex.com) Impact backplane connector system has been named Interconnect Technologies and Components category winner in the International Engineering Consortium’s (IEC) 2009 DesignVision Awards. The IEC announced the awards on Feb. 3 at DesignCon 2009 in Santa Clara, CA.The Impact connector system was selected by the DesignCon 2009 Technical Program Committee, consisting of industry experts in the semiconductor and electronic design engineering community judging the design tools and products as unique and beneficial to the semiconductor industry. At greater than 25 Gbits/sec data rates, the Impact backplane connector system is designed to provide significant channel performance headroom for both traditional backplane and midplane architectures. Molex says it “pushes the speed and density envelope” to meet the next generation requirements of server, storage, telecommunications and data networking equipment.

Sullins Connector Solutions (www.sullinscorp.com) has opened an office in Taipei, Taiwan to serve as the Asia-Pacific operating hub from which manufacturing, sales, marketing, engineering, and design support are provided for the Sullins and Micro Plastics portfolio of standard and custom edgecards, headers, bi-level and CompactPCI connectors. The new facility offers global logistical support, as well as integrated management of all phases of product development, from design to production and delivery.
