March 5, 2009--Yokowo claims that the 0.4-mm contact pitch of its vertical cable connector is the smallest in the industry. The pitch and a 1.5-mm profile (when mounted) are designed to save space and allow for high-density mounting. These vertically mated, top-loaded connectors are designed to eliminate the need for additional space to insert the plug. A plug dimension of 1.2 x 2 mm enables the connector to run through a 3-mm diameter hinge hole.

Application possibilities include cellular, radio, medical, consumer electronics and aerospace for battery, speaker or RF device connections.

Two types of plugs are offered--an FPC Type and a Wire Type. The receptacle is compatible with both. A double-sided FPC Type is available for high-speed signal transmission and to prevent EMI (electromagnetic interference). To further control EMI waves, a GND shield connection for the FPC Type is possible without soldering. The Wire Type allows for a solderless connection with a thin cable of AWG #38 to #36 (0.24 diameter, including the coating).

A proprietary 2-point contact structure is designed to improve resistance to vibration and the number of times mating can be repeated, while securing a 0.6-mm-long effective joint area.

Yokowo offers a range of sizes, from stock and made-to-order.
