HARD-CLAD SILICA FIBERS–This line of large core multimode optical fibers feature hard plastic clad standard silica core fibers with a numerical aperture (N.A.) of 0.39, and hard plastic-coated low hydroxyl (OH) silica core fibers with a N.A. of 0.22, and attenuation of 3.5dB/km @ 800nm / 8.6dB/km @ 1060 nm respectively. Features include high concentricity and core-to-clad ratio for excellent connection alignment; fiber core positioning and high transmission bundles; hard polymer coating for increased fiber strength, reduced static fatigue in humid environments and protection of the fiber during buffer stripping to prevent fiber breakage; and hard clad bonding to prevent pistoning and provide a more stable crimp-and-cleave or epoxy terminations. All materials are biocompatible and tested against USP Class VI. Product applications include: laser delivery systems, medical for laser and sensor technologies, short to medium distance data communications, factory automation, near-IR spectroscopy, optical pyrometry, and automotive cabling.

EPOXY FOR THIN ASSEMBLIES–EP30 is a two-component epoxy adhesive for high performance bonding applications. It is designed to develop outstanding physical strength properties even when cured at ambient temperatures. Cure can be accelerated by use of moderate heat. EP30 features very low viscosity along with chemical resistance, dimensional stability, hardness, and optical clarity. It is designed for use in potting and encapsulating electronic components as well as in bonding optical elements. For medical applications, a USP Class VI approved version called EP30MED is also available. This epoxy has been designed for adhesion to a variety of substrates, including metals, ceramics, glass and many plastics. It is especially suited for assemblies where only very thin bond lines are dictated by design considerations. Typically, the lap shear strength exceeds 3,000 psi for aluminum-to-aluminum bonds.
