EXFO enhances Ethernet test capability

Nov 26, 2008

November 26, 2008 -- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering recently added multi-stream test support to its FTB-8120NGE, FTB-8130NGE, IQS-8120NGE, and IQS-8130NGE Power Blazer multi-service test modules. The 8120 and 8130 modules are housed inside the FTB-200 Compact Platform and FTB-400 Universal Test System for field and central-office testing. The IQS versions are housed inside the IQS-500 and -600 platforms for manufacturing-floor and lab environments.

"Our customers are currently deploying more-advanced IP services on their transport networks," said Etienne Gagnon, vice president of product management and marketing with EXFO, "including triple-play applications, to generate additional revenue streams. Testing these new applications, especially on existing transport networks, is always a challenge."

"These new capabilities in our portable and lab-test solutions build on the strategy laid through our acquisition of Brix Networks in the spring for stronger integration between the different layers of our customers' networks, from physical layer right up to the applications layer," said Vivian Hudson, vice president and general manager of EXFO Service Assurance. "Globally, customers are confirming our vision regarding the significant strategies between portable test and measurement with service assurance in their networks."
