Digi-Key expands catalog offering

Aug 28, 2008

August 28, 2008 -- Digi-Key announced the inclusion of more than 18,000 new products in its T083/C083 (September-December) print catalog. Mailed to customers in the US and Canada this week, the catalog features 2,560 pages of products from Digi-Key's 391 supplier partners.

Intended as a reference book for design engineers and purchasing agents, the latest edition of the catalog includes new products and technologies from new and existing manufacturers including 3M, Alpha & Omega Semiconductor, AVX, EPCOS, FCI, Finisar, FTDI, HI-TECH Software, Johanson Technology, Laird Technology, Lambda, Murata, Omron, TDK, and Tyco Electronics.

The distributor cites its commitment to not only carry but also stock all of the products featured in the print catalog. "This amounts to hundreds of thousands of products in stock in our product distribution center," comments Mark Larson, Digi-Key's president and COO "We monitor our in-stock availability very closely and have, on average, approximately 95 percent of the items featured in our catalog in stock and ready for off-the-shelf delivery. This translates into a service level -- fill rates for actual product ordered -- in the range of 99 percent."

Digi-Key publishes its US and Canadian catalogs triannually for distribution in January, May, and September. Additionally, the distributor publishes 20 versions of its catalog for annual distribution to countries in Europe and Asia as well as New Zealand. Languages, in addition to English, include German, Italian, French, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

Nearly 5 million full-version and prospect catalogs will be distributed worldwide in 2008. PDF versions of the catalogs are available on 24 country-specific websites. Digi-Key's flagship website also features a flash-based interactive catalog.
