Cable assembly manufacturer Cicoil (www.cicoil.com) is the first. U.S. company to receive the “Ship-To-Stock” quality certification from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, based in Israel. Cicoil’s cable assemblies form the electrical backbone of Rafael’s renowned “Litening” navigation and targeting pod. The certification allows Cicoil to ship products directly to Rafael in Israel, without requiring source inspection in the U.S.
Thirteen staff members at distributor CDM Electronics (www.cdmelectronics.com) have been certified IPC Specialists, having completed training for soldering per IPC-WHMA-A-620 military and J STD-001. The standards encompass requirements for acceptance for cable assembly and wire harness fabrication. New specialists are: Eric Bruninghaus, Marie Stadnick, Blanca Castro De Morales, Glenn Cippon, Beverly Trasatti, Barbara Negri, Melody Zippel, Deb Mastranduono, David Van Haitsma, Rebecca Bowman, Debbie Clifford, Pat Hyland, and Paula Hearn.

Michael Kuchenbrod, president of ITT (www.itt.com) Interconnect Solutions (ICS), has been named president of ITT China, based in Shanghai. ITT China has seven manufacturing sites and 2,000 employees. Wiliam Taylor, current president of ITT China, replaces Ku-chenbrod at the Santa Ana, CA facility. ITT ICS manufactures specialty connectors for a number of global markets, including aerospace, medical, and transportation.

Christopher Stevens has been promoted to general manager at adhesives/sealants manufacturer Devcon (www.devcon.com). He joined the company in 2000 to develop marketing and sales strategies for OEM adhesives and maintenance/repair products. With extensive knowledge of the chemical industry, Stevens will identify and target assembly opportunities for Devcon’s line of structural adhesives.

Molex Inc. (www.molex.com) has received the General Motors 2007 Supplier of the Year award for its contributions to GM’s global product and performance achievements. “As a leading one-source supplier of interconnect products, we have the resources, innovative technology, and industry expertise to meet the growing needs of our customers in a variety of industries,” said Jim Fleischhacker, president of Molex’s Global Automotive Division, in accepting the award.
Newark’s (www.newark.com/selectors) Custom Power Supply Configurator, designed to simplify the selection process for design engineers and electronics buyers, promises the capability to deliver Elpac power supplies with custom connectors within two weeks, rather than the industry-standard 10-plus weeks. While a typical minimum order requirement for custom power supplies can be 1,000 or more, Newark requires a minimum of 10.
In-process test and monitoring solutions provider OES Inc. (www.oes-inc.com) has received Delphi’s 2008 Technology Pinnacle Award for “ability to view problems as opportunities, focus their creative resources on innovation, and successfully bring new ideas to market.” OES works with the global automotive supplier predominantly in the area of electrical wire harness manufacturing. “The main focus of our most recent development work with Delphi involves our technology for small-gauge wire processing applications; specifically, our new patent-pending PBT Sensor and our strip-and-seal inspection technology,” says Michael Reeve, OES’ vice president of strategic business development.
Board-level interconnect products manufacturer Sullins Electronics Inc. has begun operating under the new name of Sullins Connector Solutions Inc. (www.sullinscorp.com). The changes reflect the company’s new positioning as a single source for a portfolio of connectors encompassing both the Sullins and MicroPlastics brands. “We believe it better reflects our focus on problem solving, along with our expertise in all facets of connector technology, from engineering and manufacturing to delivering quality parts directly to OEMs or assembliers,” explains Sullins CEO Wade Harb.

Plating chemistry and equipment provider Technic (www.technic.com) has named Jeff Cannis as manager of technical services, with responsibilities of supporting the company’s Western Region customers, overseeing the analytical laboratory and wafer plating lab, and certain facilities management functions. He previously held key roles in senior management for Amkor, Delphi Jade Technologies, and TRW Cinch Connector.

Cory Thiel has joined WAGO Corp. (www.wago.com) as product manager/interconnect to oversee the growth of PCB-mount terminal blocks and connectors, Multi Connection System (pluggable PCB connectors), 773 Series WALL-NUTS, 222 Series LEVER-NUTS, and the 770 Series WINSTA plug-in connectors. Thiel plans to draw on his experience with electronics and the non-automotive transportation sector to strengthen the overall focus of WAGO’s product groups.

He will spearhead the company’s sourcing, procurement, and inventory management strategies, and oversee Leviton’s distribution centers, transportation network, and customer service and e-commerce operations. Previously, Ende was director of supply chain optimization and staff assistant to the CEO at Arrow Electronics.
