Stephane Babcock at School Transportation News reports that certain models of years 2006 - 2010 Girardin G5 school buses and 2009 - 2011 Micro Bird G5 non-school (commercial) buses are being recalled by the NHTSA for an issue with a potentially flawed wiring harness.
According to the NHTSA, the OEM cutaway wiring harness that passes just rearward of the buses' driver seat between the B pillar and the raised floor is reportedly "trapping the wire harness causing the wires to rub against the metal floor molding, damaging the wire insulation."

The damaged wire could lead to a short and, possibly, a fire, said the recall. Micro Bird said that it will be notifying owners that authorized dealers will repair the affected buses free of charge.
