Premier Farnell announced the appointment of Gert Labuschagne to the position of president at Newark, its multi-channel electronics distributor in the Americas. Based in Newark’s Chicago headquarters, Labuschagne is responsible for leading all of Newark's operations within the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
“Gert is a global executive with broad industry experience, an in-depth knowledge of distribution, and a thorough understanding of the needs of our suppliers and customers,” said Harriet Green, CEO, Premier Farnell. “He will continue to drive Newark’s strategy for growth, and we are delighted to have attracted another global leader of his caliber to join our team.”
Labuschagne has more than 20 years of experience in the global electronics industry. He was president of Altech Distribution, South Africa’s largest distributor, and led its joint venture with U.S.-based Arrow Electronics, successfully merging four complex and sizeable business units into one dynamic organization. In 1999, Labuschagne moved to Australia to lead Arrow’s business there, and as vice president of Arrow’s South Asia division he worked across the ASEAN countries and India, in addition to Australia and New Zealand.
