TINY USB, LOW-VOLTAGE PASS-THRU

The Micro-USB connector is smaller than the conventional Mini-USB and enables portable device makers to further miniaturize real estate in mobile phones, MP3 players, GPS navigation systems, digital cameras, and digital video cameras. The connector meets the USB Implementers Forum specification, which supports communication between portable devices without going through a host. A latch mechanism helps prevent accidental unplugging. Other features include minimum extraction force of 8N, 10,000 mating cycles, RoHS compliance, and receptacle profiles on the circuit board as small as 2.4 mm. Also, MULTI-BEAM XL current pass-thru connectors are designed to securely terminate up to an 8 AWG wire directly into MULTI-BEAM XL PCB-mounted receptacles. The design includes a terminal position assurance (TPA) feature that confirms when manually inserted wires are fully seated. The connector allows both high- and low-voltage power to pass through the same connector, without the high voltage power being electrically connected to the PCB. Using the XL’s receptacle as a “docking” station makes it suitable for applications where high- and low-voltage power on both cables and circuit boards need to be routed through one central location.
