Graphical enhancements to wire harness testing software

Oct 1, 2007

Under development for more than four years, Version 5 of CAMI Research’s (www.camiresearch.com) CableEye wire harness testing software includes multiple connector graphics with individual view direction controls for multi-headed cables and wire harnesses.

Other features include the ability to assign color codes to wires (a base color with up to three stripes), shown graphically or as text, and a description field for each wire where you can enter a signal name, wire gauge, or terminal type. (See diagram, above.)

CableEye graphically shows the harness wiring with connectors and components (shown above). Screen buttons near each connector let you change the view to orient the connector either into the pins or into the terminations. You can also highlight wires or resistors for high-speed continuous testing to check for intermittent connections.

Version 5 lists individual resistance tolerance for every resistor or wire, measurement of diode voltage drop and reverse resistance up to 10-MW, and provides a probe function with memory so that you can see and record connections to bare wires touched by the probe. Hover over components in the wiring graphic to see component values, pin number, and connector names.

CableEye customers with an active warranty can obtain the Version 5 software at no charge.
