Originally intended for use in plastic surgery procedures, a multicore cable connector assembly system developed by BioSculpture Technology (www.biosculpturetechnology.com) is also being targeted for automotive, aviation, marine, and military applications.
The newly-patented assembly features quick connect/disconnect male and female connectors that can carry two fluidic channels at 300 psi, plus eight electrical circuits-two of which are suitable for RF signals. The connectors are keyed and marked in contrasting colors for simplified alignment, and mate with special strain relief and shrouds that allow for environmental sealing.

BioSculpture says its new assembly eliminates the need for individually soldered electrical circuits and separate gas connections, making it suitable for providing closed-loop feedback for precision pneumatic controls. Applications include aircraft console panels, aileron and landing feedback linkages, anti-lock braking connections, and robotic automation.
