ITT unveils custom mixed-signal cable assembly technology

Jun 1, 2007

SANTA ANA, CA - Targeting demanding mixed signal design for applications ranging from avionics to industrial automation, ITT Electronic Components (www.itt.com) says it is offering mixed-signal package custom cable assemblies designed to save space, reduce weight, and ensure EMI shielding effectiveness.

By replacing multiple connectors with one mixed-signal package, and by using one cable rather than several, ITT says its solution will occupy less space on the PCB and within the end equipment, and can reduce inventory costs. Digital, power, high-voltage, and RF signals can all be packaged in one microinterconnect assembly, while harnesses can feature multi-cable configurations with different breakout schemes.

ITT says it is also able to deliver shielded assemblies tested to meet EMI regulations. High-performance dielectric materials are used to ensure that signal integrity is maintained, even when working at speeds up to 5 GHz. High-reliability potting is used to provide sturdy terminations.

“ITT has been manufacturing cable harnesses in ISO 9001 facilities for many years, and we are offering this expertise-covering manufacturing, EMI/RFI, and custom design-to customers who require mixed-signal systems,” says Barry Cambeilh, product marketing manager for the Cannon Micro connector range.

Specific applications for the mixed-signal custom cable assembly include radar arrays, tactical communications, shipboard and satellite systems, high-temperature geophysical equipment, and medical diagnostics equipment.
