Cirris Systems Corporation recently announced the easy-wire CH2 high-voltage wiring harness/backplane tester. The CH2 offers test voltages to 1,500 VDC and 1,000 VAC in a modular system that can be ordered with as few as 160 test points and expanded to 20,000.

Although a new product, the CH2 is destined to be an easy adoption for existing Cirris customers who are using the easy-wire CR or CH+ testers, because the CH2 will run on the same software platform.

The CH2 can self-learn the wiring pattern from a sample assembly, and can be programmed through its onboard wirelist editor. Or, test programs can be imported from CAD/CAE-generated data files. It measures resistance from 0.1 Ω to 1 MΩ in standard two-wire mode, and can measure resistance as low as 0.001 Ω when used in four-wire mode. The CH2 can detect shorts in less than one second and performs a complete check for opens, shorts, miswires, and high-resistance errors, as well as testing components in the assembly. High-voltage tests verify insulation up to 1 GΩ.

In addition to testing, the CH2 can be used as a zero-defect wiring assembly aid. It can guide you, step-by-step, through the assembly process with on-screen connector graphics and red/green LED indicators.
