PLUG & PLAY TRUNK MODULE

The Plug & Play Universal System Integrated Trunk Module is a pre-terminated 12-fiber MTP connector trunk assembly integrated into the company’s Plug & Play Systems module. The trunk cable is stored in the module; you can pull it out and deploy to meet exact length requirements, eliminating the need for precise cable length pre-planning. Designed for redeploying optical connectivity, the trunk module is suited for both small data centers (main distribution frame to system equipment cabinet) and large data centers (zone distribution area to cabinet). The module eliminates one mated pair in the channel link, resulting in a lower system link loss. It features a quick-release cable tray, which slides out and tilts for easy cable access.

The FO-EX series of fiberoptic adapters are designed to separate for easy cleaning of the rear fiber. This adapter is available with a spring-loaded internal shutter that operates automatically when the connector is inserted or extracted, and fits standard panel dimensions. It is especially suited for use with any fiberoptic panel or module, including applications for FTTx, switching equipment, and optical networking. The FO-EX is currently available in an LC simplex configuration, meets or exceeds Telcordia GR-326 specifications, and has an operating temperature range of -40° to 85° C.

SENSOR, MEDICAL CONNECTIVITY

For sensor and medical technology applications, where fibers with core diameters from 200 to 1,500-μm are employed, these connectors are designed for SMA, FC, ST, V-PIN and F07 media. LWL plus with fiber guiding holes in 10-μm intervals are also available. Especially for coupling higher powers, an SMA plug with free-standing fiber helps to prevent damage to the connector that can be caused by improper coupling of the laser output power.

Opti-Core and QuickNet pre-terminated trunk cable assemblies are designed for faster start-up of high-density permanent links in a single assembly for data center applications, such as main, horizontal and zone distribution areas. Designed to optimize slack storage to ensure efficient use of pathway space for applications that are pushed toward small-form-factor cabling, these factory-terminated and tested trunk cable assemblies are said to exceed TIA/EIA standards. The assemblies are tailored to application-specific designs and lengths, and offered in simplex, duplex, and 12-fiber connector configurations up to 144 fibers.

Momentum 2, a modular, pre-terminated fiberoptic cabling system, combines optical ribbon cabling, MTP termination, LC polishing, and hardware designed to provide a cost-effective solution for mission-critical data centers and storage area networks. This cassette-based system, a next-generation version of the company’s original Momentum system, now features increased cable plant loss budget through reductions in DMD and modal noise, improved insertion loss cassettes and ribbon backbones, reduced backbone differential mode delay, increased fiber count ribbon backbones, and maximized port density. Cassettes are available in 12-fiber SC or LC duplex, and 24-fiber LC quad connector versions. Ribbon backbones are available in singlemode or 50-μm laser-optimized multimode in 12, 24, 48, and 72 fiber counts.

MPO, LC INTERFACES

The company’s SECURE connector line now includes MPO and LC interfaces. Colors and keys are available in red, blue, yellow and green, with additional designs for up to 10 different color/keying options. From the backbone to the equipment panel, these interfaces are designed to help users segregate and protect networks via physical keying and color codes. The LC version is designed for small-form-factor applications and is compatible with jacketed and buffered fiber. The MPO version is designed for high-density applications, and is compatible with MPO SECURE cassettes. Trunk cables are available in up to 72 fibers, while cassettes are available as 12 or 24-fiber assemblies. Cables and cassettes are available with 50-μm, XG, and 62.5-μm multimode fiber.

MINI INTERCONNECT

Singlemode and multimode Rugged Optical Interconnects are designed for tighter packaging demands in rugged or sensitive field applications. The company’s circular insert Expanded Beam technology features large, medium and miniature interconnections containing one, two or four fibers-all designed to facilitate easier use, to be field-repairable and terminable, and available in multiple connector schemes. The inserts provide precision coupling of a fiberoptic signal without making typical physical contact at the fiber-to-fiber interfaces. The light signal on the fiber is expanded by a spherical lens-14× its original diameter or 200× its cross-sectional area for multimode, and 45× its original diameter and 2,000× its cross-sectional area for singlemode-transferred across a designed gap at the separable interface to a second lens, and is then refocused onto the receiving fiber. This non-contacting interconnection is designed for high-vibration and thermal extremes encountered in avionics, field applications, and rugged environments.

HIGH-DENSITY SOLUTION FOR AEROSPACE, DEFENSE

The HD 1.25-mm optical termination method is especially suited for aerospace and defense applications where a common terminus for all types of connections is required. HD 1.25-mm termini are a physical contact method of connecting high-density, low-cost fiberoptic connectors. A pull-resistant design means that no strain relief is required on the backshell, simplifying assembly. In addition, a genderless contact allows for the use of the same contact on both connector halves. Mean instertion loss is 0.10 dB for singlemode and 0.07 dB for multimode.
