Laird Technologies offering enhanced RJ45 Ethernet connector system

Mar 21, 2011

Laird Technologies, a developer and supplier of customized components and systems for advanced electronics and wireless products, announced the release of its enhanced RJ45-ECS Ethernet connector system.

Providing for quick and easy disconnects and reconnects of equipment, the enhanced RJ45 connector system incorporates an enhanced molded strain relief into the cable design. This enhancement reduces, and even eliminates, damage caused to the connector components which results from the continuous coiling, curving, or straining of the cable.

“Molded strain relief, now part of the RJ45-ECS configuration, is a feature specifically designed to ensure the protection of the system’s connectors and components from the continuous strain of improper equipment connecting and disconnecting,” said Quaid Rasheed, Laird Technologies BWA Antenna Product Manager. “The system also conforms to IP67 standards, allowing it to meet the industry demands for a sealed and waterproof, yet removable, Ethernet connection.”

The patented RJ45-ECS Ethernet connector system, available exclusively from Laird, is a field replaceable outdoor rated and shielded Ethernet connection system for high speed 10BaseT, 100BaseT, and 1000BaseT networks. The connector system features a shielded RJ45 receptacle that is mounted in a UV protected housing along with a mating cable gland, which passes an RJ45 connector and seals the cable to IP67 requirements. IP67 sealing ability provides a reliable connection, even in very harsh environments, for many years of trouble free service.

The system's shielded Cat5e cable with connectors provides maximum shielding against external EMI for consistent data communications. It also encompasses a quick disconnect feature that allows for the ready replacement of equipment, and minimizes customer and field downtime that is spent servicing the equipment.
