October 23, 2006 -- Belden has expanded its line of IndustrialTuff variable frequency drive (VFD) cables, designed to carry power from AC drive systems to AC motors.
According to a press release, the Belden VFD 1000V UL Flexible Motor Supply cable line-up now includes:
-- Part Nos. 29528 through 29532, a series of five symmetrical 3-conductor, 1 to 4/0 AWG, 600V UL1277, VFD cables. The cables' symmetrical ground design combines the benefits of Belden's "classic" VFD cables with additional features for use on larger, more powerful AC motor drives. Two spiral copper tape shields provide improved flexibility and highly effective radiated and conducted noise protection.
-- Part Nos. 29510 through 29513, a series of four 10 to 16 AWG, 600V UL 1277 cables incorporating a signal pair for brake applications. The cables feature the company's overall Beldfoil shield plus 85 percent TC braid shield for highly effective radiated and conducted noise protection.
-- Part Nos. 29500 through 29507, the "classic" series of eight 2 to 8 AWG, 600V UL 1277, 3-stranded TC circuit conductor cables, featuring the overall Beldfoil shield plus 85 percent TC braid shield.
Belden says that all of its variable frequency AC motor drive output cables feature robust construction to perform reliably and consistently in harsh industrial operating environments characterized by high voltage spikes, high noise levels, and adverse environmental conditions.
Construction features of the new cables include: thicker, industrial-grade XLPE insulation; high-strand tinned copper circuit conductors; and industrial-grade, oil- and sunlight-resistant PVC jackets. The cables are TC-ER and UL direct burial rated, RoHS compliant, CE approved, and certified to numerous industrial safety standards. They are approved for use by Rockwell Automation and are also appropriate for drives made by major drive manufacturers.
