Web seminar addresses ITAR, export issues

May 4, 2011

A seminar produced by our sister site Military and Aerospace Electronics and delivered via the web will provide legal insight into the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as well as other export rules. In a description of the material to be presented during the seminar, Military and Aerospace Electronics said, "Many companies in the defense market are finding it difficult to grow their overseas business," because of ITAR and other export rules.

"Common pitfalls include a lack of training and understanding of the proper handling of ITAR technology, no proper record of employee-citizenship status, poor handling of foreign visitors, improper export documentation, and ignoring licensing provisos," the description continued, adding, "The fines for these missteps can be financially devastating."

The seminar will include presentations from Kay Georgi, a partner with Arent Fox; Lizbeth C. Rodriguez, of-counsel attorney with Holland & Hart, LLP; and Christine McGinn, director of international trade and compliance with Cobham Corporate North America. Military & Aerospace Electronics executive editor John McHale will moderate the seminar.

The seminar takes place Tuesday, May 10 at 1:00pm EDT and will last approximately two hours. Registration fee is $129.
