These SMA male connectors are for use in terminating plastic optical fiber. This new series is suitable for 1-mm core size plastic fiber with a 2-mm jacket outer diameter. The company says its connectors are easily attached to cable with crimp tools. Typical applications include short-distance data transmission, security systems, and industrial equipment.

The OpticalCon is designed to increase the reliability of and maximize the uptime for fiberoptic audio connection systems. OpticalCon is based on a standard optical LC-duplex connection, yet enables up to four copper wires to run power or data signals through it. A special SMPTE-version1 has been optimized for broadcast applications, providing an additional ground-shell contact. OpticalCon comes pre-assembled with a choice of three mobile field cables that can be ordered at a variety of lengths, and features an all-metal housing and heavy-duty cable retention. Optical connection cables are protected from dust and dirt through automatic sealing covers and gaskets. Colored labeling plates are included to identify the fiber mode.

SHIELDED FIBER ADAPTERS

The SureConnect family of internally shielded fiberoptic union adapters is designed to enhance the reliability and reduce the maintenance cost of access networks. The patent-pending technology includes an internal length of optical fiber that prevents direct physical contact of the polished cable ends to one another. The company says functionality is achieved without compromising optical performance; the isolated union adapter shields difficult to access fiberoptic terminations from damage, such as those within a wall plenum or patch panels. SureConnect adapters provide polished surface damage (PSD) protection, and are designed to be disposable and easily replaced.
