SOCKET SYSTEM
![]() |
This 0.50-mm pitch BGA socket adapter system is a hybrid design that utilizes both male and female pins in an interstitial pattern. The company says the BGA system offers the reliability of screw-machined terminals with multi-finger contacts in a compact SMT socket. The small socket system is designed for development and validation of BGA and LGA devices, production-level socketing, and SMT board-to-board connector applications. The system also comes with alignment pins that protect the pin field and aid in hand placement.

12-MM PLUG CONNECTORS
![]() |
The company’s high-speed, high-density Gig-Array product line now includes 12-mm plug connectors. These mezzanine connectors provide either 200 or 296 signal contacts, and add the capability for 17- or 27-mm board-to-board spacing when used in combination with the company’s existing 5-mm or 15-mm receptacles. The stack heights expand upon the options for 15-, 18-, 20-, 25-, 28-, 30-, and 35-mm spacing already available as part of the product line. According to the company, the connectors’ stack height options enable equipment designers to address component clearance, airflow, or slot spacing requirements that are unique to their chassis designs. Blade server, storage, communications, and networking equipment are among the applications targeted to benefit from the Gig-Array connector system’s high-speed electrical performance. Differential pairs nominally provide 100-Ω matched impedance to deliver higher speed performance with less reflected power. The connectors can support data rates in the range of 10-Gbits/sec. The 296-position connector contains 37 columns with eight individual signal contacts and nine ground contacts in each column; the 200-position connector contains 25 columns. All Gig-Array connectors feature a Ball Grid Array (BGA) connector termination designed for easy attachment to PCBs using conventional reflow soldering processes.

PLUG-AND-PLAY SYSTEM
![]() |
Built for fast outside plant (OSP) LAN deployment, the Plug & Play OSP System consists of an optical cable pre-installed with network access points at customer-specified intervals, and a tethered, environmentally-hardened MT connector. The MT network access points consist of a patented pre-installed overmold closure. The flat drop tether cable is attached to the network access point, and terminated with a factory-tested MT connector. When network connection is required at the drop location, customer options include a 12-fiber proprietary MTP connector, standard connector (LC, SC, etc.), or the company’s OptiSheath Advantage MultiPort Terminal that can be configured with four, six, eight or 12 drop cable ports. The system is compatible with below-ground and aerial applications, and the manufacturer claims that network installation can be completed up to 50% faster than traditional field installation and at a 20% total deployment cost savings.

SEALED, SHIELDED, LIGHTED AUDIO CONNECTORS
![]() |
D-Series EtherCon audio connectors are now designed with a waterproof IP54 connection kit (pictured), achieved by replacing the frontplate and pushing the lever with the kit components. Also, a shielded EtherCon audio connector builds on the company’s horizontal B-Series chassis connector, offering a closed metal housing to avoid EMI and crosstalk. It is designed for data rates up to and including Category 5e. In addition, a Lighted EtherCon offers two light pipes for 3-mm standard LEDs to indicate data transmission and status. The LEDs, typically mounted to a horizontal PC board, fit into an opening at the bottom of the light pipes, which in turn transmit the light to the front panel to give users a visual indication of a secure connection, data transfer, and link speed.

HIGH-DENSITY VRM
![]() |
The Mini Crown Edge connector for 1U and 2U voltage regulator module (VRM) applications now offers a higher density of signal contacts on a .050-inch centerline (compared to .100-inch centerline for the standard connector). The enhanced connectors are especially suited for VRM 10.2 applications and beyond, with requirements up to 150 amps. Individual power contacts are rated at 25 amps each. The low-profile power contacts have a short path length that renders lower loop inductance levels, thereby meeting the high slew rate requirements of recent VRM-to-MPU power delivery architectures. In contrast with VRM connectors that use U-shaped low-current contacts, the Mini Crown Edge is a power connector that incorporates the manufacturer’s power contact technology.
