Accell partnering for slice of Europe
Accell Corp. (Fremont, CA), a provider of audio/video interconnects and computer cables, has signed with Partners In Europe (PIE; www.pie.ie) to expand its line of A/V interconnects into the European retail market. According to Accell, the European A/V market is rapidly growing with consumers actively investing in digital receivers and HD displays. The demand for quality audio and video cables is paralleling this growth. PIE will extend Accell’s reach beyond the United States to cultivate the European channel and also manage in-country sales, fulfillment, and customer support. Michael Weizer, director of marketing for Accell, says “Accell continues to grow in the U.S. and now with European expansion, we are looking forward to worldwide validation and adoption of our A//V solutions.”

Vendor reduces lead time on connectors
Deutsch (East Sussex, UK), a provider of interconnect solutions, says it has reduced lead times on repeat orders for its filter products to 12 weeks. During the past 18 months, Deutsch has been implementing its lean enterprise system, a program that is similar to that being adopted by top aerospace prime contractors. The company says its lean enterprise system has also helped ensure thatdelivery times are not compromised by implementing measures that resolve typical causes of late deliveries. “These measures are working well,” says Andy Gibb, product marketing manager. “Our filter connector DOTIF stats are now at their highest level, but we’re still not satisfied. It is key that these improvements are sustainable, and our measures have addressed this.”
