Election of TIA Board members
The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA; Arlington, VA), a trade association for the information and communications technology industry, and TR-42, which is responsible for commercial, industrial, and residential cabling standards, Engineering Committee on Premises Telecommunications Cabling, recently organized and held elections during the week of February 2 for Committee TR-42 and for Subcommittees TR-42.2 Residential Telecommunications Infrastructure, TR-42.6 Telecommunications Infrastructure and Equipment Administration, and TR-42.8 Telecommunications Optical Fiber Cabling Systems. Herb Congdon, Tyco, was elected chair of TR-42, and Robert Jensen, Fluke Networks, as vice-chair. John Pryma, Genesis Cable Systems, was elected as chair of TR-42.2, and Tom Boucino, CommScope, as vice-chair. For TR-42.6, Steve Huffaker, JP Morgan Chase and Company, was designated as chair and Jonathan Jew, J&M Consultants, as vice-chair. Robert Jensen, Fluke Networks, was elected as chair of TR-42.8 and Julie Roy, C2 Consultants, as vice-chair.

Harwin signs deal
Harwin (Salem, NH), a manufacturer of standard and custom interconnect components recently signed a deal with catalog and online distributor, Mouser Electronics. Mouser is a distributor of electronic components and provides a 1,500 page print catalog every 90 days. Harwin is featured as a new supplier of interconnect products on Mouser’s website. Highlighted is Datamate, a professional range of 2-mm-pitch connectors suitable for high-performance applications. According to Mouser president and CEO Glenn Smith, the distribution agreement with Harwin is in keeping with the distributor’s business model of continuing to offer the newest, most innovative products, and the latest technologies to its customers.

Rosenberger goes wireless
Rosenberger (Oberbayern, Germany) has announced the formation of a new business unit, Wireless Terminal Components (WTC). The new organization will offer a range of standard products for various wireless applications, such as cellular and cordless phones, Bluetooth applications, wireless LAN applications, or data collecting terminals. Products include a spring-loaded (pogo) pin family for antenna and battery contacts with plastic housings for various polarities. The micro-RF components range includes a Micro-RF test switch for frequencies up to 6 GHz and a minimum of 100 mating cycles, which is ideally suited for applications such as RF performance verification of antennae/circuits in small wireless devices.
