Empire Electronics (Troy, MI), a supplier of electrical distribution systems and components to the automotive industry, has announced the appointment of William J. Doman as its chief engineer. Doman will be responsible for all vertical-integration operations, including oversight of the company’s plastic injection-molded components and its design team. He also will oversee electrical distribution systems development, including product design and engineering, and industrial engineering in the company’s production facility in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. He joined the company in March 1997 and previously has held the positions of engineering manager and program engineering manager.

Trompeter, a wholly-owned division of Stratos International, (MESA, AZ), a producer of RF interconnect products, has announced that Larry Fagan has been hired as a direct field salesperson for the Los Angeles territory. Fagan brings with him 20 years of sales experience in the Los Angeles area, including 10 years at Newark Electronics. His most recent position with Newark was as commercial accounts manager, and prior to that as government account manager.
Universal Instruments (Binghamton, NY), a global electronics productivity specialist, has announced the appointment of Mark Ragard to the position of director of corporate accounts. In his new role, Ragard will oversee the development of Universal’s worldwide corporate level activity and supervise the accounts of high profile OEM and EMS clients. Ragard will report directly to company president, Jeroen Schmits.
C-MAC MicroTechnology (Durham, NC), an electronics manufacturer, has announced the appointment of CEO Indro Mukerjee. Mukerjee joined C-MAC at the end of 2005 from Philips Semiconductors where he was executive vice president and general manager of the Automotive and Identification Business unit. Under Mukerjee’s leadership, C-MAC intends to focus on medical, automotive, and transportation applications, building upon the company’s existing strength in the communications, industrial, and high-reliability military/aerospace sectors.
Sager Electronics (Weymouth, MA), an electronic distributor, has announced that Ron Hanson will lead the Midwest sales region. Hanson will place a special focus on expanding its customer base in the Midwestern markets. Additionally, Sager has also announced the promotion of Jon Roddy to regional sales manager. Roddy brings with him 35 years of experience in the electronics industry. In his new role, Roddy is responsible for aggressively growing the Florida market.

Garber, who developed Colder’s Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) capabilities and has become a leading advocate for smart technology, will oversee all of Colder’s global marketing and sales support efforts. In his new role, Garber will oversee Colder’s smart technology, industrial, chemical/packaging, medical and bioprocessing business units. His responsibilities will include developing product road maps and strategic marketing plans, fostering client relationships, and identifying growth opportunities for Colder worldwide.

Berk-Tek, a Nexans company (New Holland, PA), a manufacturer of copper and fiberoptic cable products, has announced that the Wire and Cable Manufacturers Alliance (WCMA) has named Kevin St. Cyr, president of Berk-Tek, as one of the recipients of the 2006 Charles D. Scott Distinguished Career awards. This award, which is bestowed by previous award recipients, recognizes industry professionals who have a minimum of 25 years in the wire and cable industry, and during that time, have made significant commercial or technical contributions.
AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP; Wallingford, CT), a manufacturer of metal powder, strip, wire, and clad products, has announced that it has named a new business unit manager and sales manager for metal strip and specialty wire products manufactured at its Wallingford, CT, facility. Ryan Smith is new business unit manager, and Diane Shortt joins AMETEK as sales manager for metal strip and specialty wire. Both bring extensive industry experience to their new positions. Smith has more than 17 years experience with AMETEK SMP, most recently as the Wallingford plant manager, while Shortt brings more than 20 years of sales experience in copper-based metals.

In her new role, Ellis will be responsible for the planning, direction, and coordination of marketing the company’s products and services. Ellis will also continue to serve as the product manager for the test and measurement, bending, storage box, and material handling product lines until a replacement is named.
